The Administrative Customs Clerk support logistics by maintaining records, coordinating with internal teams, liaising with customs and freight forwarders, and facilitating efficient cargo movement and on-time delivery.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Administrative Customs Clerk ensures timely clearance of imports/exports, accurate documentation, and compliance with regulations. They support logistics by maintaining records, coordinating with internal teams, liaising with customs and freight forwarders, and facilitating efficient cargo movement and on-time delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify customs documents for export shipment, ensuring timely exportation of all shipments
  • Secure booking with shipping agents for all export requests and planned export orders  
  • Coordinate haulage services for export containers with external transport service providers and warehouse
  • Prepare commercial invoices, export certificates, proforma bill of lading, customs invoices and airway bills, insurance certificates for export orders. 
  • Coordinate fumigation and plant quarantine services with Warehouse Supervisor and CSRs
  • Maintain pertinent records
  • Timely clearance of import/export cargo, to minimize the occurrence of rent and demurrage on shipments
  • Check classification of goods to compute assessment of duty charges
  • Examine cargo to ensure that it corresponds with the relevant entries and invoices and that goods are in sound condition before they are dispatch.
  • Deliver completed documents to the bank, shipping agents, port and customs
  • Assist in monthly/annual stock taking as needed.
  • Promote safety awareness and the development of a Safety Culture within the company
  • Liaise with external customers/contractors/suppliers as and when necessary
  • Any other duties as may be required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • One to Two (1-2) years experience in field
  • Five (5) Ordinary Level subjects, including Mathematics and English
  • Relevant combination of training and experience
  • Working knowledge of Customs regulations and local and international Trade laws will be an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to work as part of a team with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have the intention to pursue Customs Clerk Certification
