Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join Card Operations team in the capacity of:
Acquirer Chargeback Associate
(Grade 2)
Timely processing Acquirer (Merchant) chargeback transactions and non-rejected items that fulfil the chargeback requirements according to Visa/MasterCard regulations.
Facilitate the fulfilment of incoming retrieval (sales slip copy) requests from other banks, both local and international from our merchants within the regulated timeframe.
Prepare weekly and monthly fraud/chargeback reports.
Location: Kingston
As an Acquirer Chargeback Associate, you will:
- Review incoming/outgoing chargeback report and reconcile against the assigned general ledger account and submit to supervisor for approval.
- Ensure that all related chargeback/copy requests documentation are received and monitor due dates.
- Prepare chargeback documentation for items being returned.
- Prepare arbitration/compliance report in the time frame specified by Visa/MasterCard.
- Prepare and process general ledger for chargeback transactions.
- Obtain approval from supervisor of chargeback items to be debited and post said entries.
- Monitor assigned GLs and ensure timely and accurate clearing and reconciliation of all entries posted.
- Prepare a list identifying items which have exhausted the chargeback process and submit items to be written-off.
- Monitor losses over time and make recommendations on measures for best merchant practices to reduce same.
- Investigate suspicious activity and unusual changes in merchant trends.
- Guide merchants on best practices and the need to maintain requisite documentation required to respond/refute disputes received thereby minimizing/mitigating possible losses.
- Prepare batches to recover funds from merchant accounts for chargebacks received.
- Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management Studies or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the financial sector.
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages such as word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Working knowledge of prime and online.
- Some card acquiring/issuing knowledge required.
- Experience in Risk & Fraud Management and mitigation measures.
