The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the General Ledger and ensuring the accuracy of accounting records and entries into the accounting system in a Public Service Environment.

VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT

Suitably qualified applicants are invited to submit an application and résumé for the position (on contract) of:-

  1. Prepare monthly and other periodic financial statements and management reports.
  2. Coordinate the annual statutory audit including preparation of financial statements and necessary audit schedules.
  3. Review the monthly payroll, petty cash and cheque payment for accuracy.
  4. Ensure that the provisions of the Accounting Procedures Manual are upheld.
  5. Coordinate and advance special projects as assigned.
  6. Prepare annual budget estimates and attend budget defence meeting to justify the budgets submitted.
  7. Prepare necessary documents for reporting to the Board of Management and line Ministry.
  8. Supervises all reporting staff and continually monitor and assess their performance so that they deliver services to the required standard.
  9. Formally appraise staff performance on an annual basis and make recommendations for filling any gaps in performance.
  10. Support the development and maintenance of a team environment by performing other related duties.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

  1. Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CMA or First Degree in Accounting.
  2. Five (5) years’ experience in financial accounting, preferably in the public sector environment.
  3. Sound knowledge of accounting standards and practices.
  4. Sound knowledge of government’s financial regulations, accounting and reporting requirements.
  1. Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Word/Power Point/Outlook/Excel) or similar applications.
