The Accounts Payable Assistant will be responsible for supporting the management of the Accounts Payables portfolio and assisting with general accounting functions to ensure the timely completion of financial statements and related reports. The role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Manage the Accounts Payables sub-ledger, ensuring accurate and timely posting of vendor invoices using three-way matching.
Process vendor payments (cheques, EFTs, bank transfers) in compliance with financial policies.
Prepare journals, reports, and aged payables reconciliations.
Respond to vendor queries promptly and professionally.
Perform monthly vendor and bank reconciliations within prescribed timelines.
Maintain an effective and well-organized filing system for paid and unpaid invoices.
Generate payment batches and issue payment advice to vendors.
Track and ensure timely payment of utilities and rental obligations.
Adhere to all Quality, Safety, Food Safety, and Security Standards.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration OR
Diploma in Accounting from a recognized tertiary institution.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an Accounts Payables or similar accounting role.
Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
High level of confidentiality, reliability, and responsibility.
Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
