preparing, processing and maintaining the payroll functions of the JNHT in keeping with established GOJ regulations/guidelines and internal policies and procedures.

  • Verify that changes in pay status conform to regulations and procedures; check for authorized supporting documents to justify changes in status; initiates processing of supporting detail;
  • Process fortnightly and monthly payrolls;
  • Prepare monthly statement for Advances and Staff Loans;
  • Update and maintain the salaries/wages directive files and prepare salaries/wages reports; 
  • Prepare P24 and P45 forms within the agreed timeframe and format;
  • Prepare Annual Statutory Returns within the established format and timeframe;
  • Process request made by members of staff National Housing Trust deduction letters;
  • Prepare the salary, travel and Pension Audit Schedules ensuring that accuracy is maintained at all times;
  • Prepare all non-statutory deductions for payment;
  • Prepare monthly returns of statutory deductions; and
  • Act as relief custodian of cheques in the absence of the responsible officer
  • Working knowledge of the laws governing payroll administration;
  • Working knowledge of AccPac accounting software;
  • Excellent time management skills, is flexible, resourceful and able to work well under pressure;
  • Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills;
  • High ethical conduct and demonstrated integrity;
  • Excellent interpersonal and intrapersonal skills; and
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 Minimum Required Qualification 

 

  • AAT level 11 or equivalent professional accounting qualification
  • Certification in Government Accounting
