Startup Company is seeking a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position of Accounting Supervisor, according to the following criteria:

 

Job Summary:

Provides professional accounting and administrative support to the Accounting Manager as required, to facilitate efficient and effective operations. Supervises Accounting Clerks. Maintains and supports effective staff and customer relationships.

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Level II of a professional accounting body, ACCA, CGA, CMA or CPA.
  • Two years’ minimum accounting experience at a senior clerical level, including use of accounting software Dynamics GP preferable or others (QuickBooks, ACCPAC, etc.).
  • Advance Excel certification.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a service environment.

 

Special Job Skills & Knowledge Requirements:

  • Sound knowledge of and analytical skills pertinent to IAS standards, depreciation taxation policies and related legal issues.
  • Proficiency in Dynamics GP preferable or others (e.g., QuickBooks, ACCPAC or other accounting software).
  • Proficiency in Excel spreadsheet applications.
  • High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Demonstrated human resources and supervisory skills; excellent communications and report-writing skills; ability to delegate, effective time management and innovation.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides accurate and timely accounting services including:

  • maintaining accounts receivable and payable.
  • maintaining inventory
  • reviewing invoices
  • writing and posting journal entries and maintaining JE Control Log
  • compiling monthly financial statements
  • reconciling bank accounts
  • preparing statutory returns
  • preparing reports

2. Assists with cash management, ensuring all deposits agree to deposit summaries; following up on collectables and preparing weekly bank account summary.

3. Prepares statistical information as required.

4. Assists the Manager in the preparation of month end closing, including preparation and/or analysis of Balance Sheet accounts.

5. Updates accounts payable, pays suppliers, reconciles balances and investigates and follows up on payables and receivables.

6. Confirms intercompany balances with other markets and provides supporting documentation.

7. Prepares banking documents and performs banking transactions.

8. Assists with Agent Accounting duties and training.

9. Pays wages and salaries.

10. Performs any other functions as required, to ensure or facilitate the effective and efficient operations of the company.
