Accounting Officer-Receivables (Level 6)
Vacant – (Three-Year Contract)
Salary Range: $2,803,771.00– $3,770,760.00 per annum
Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Chief Accountant, the Accounting Officer-Receivables is responsible for the lodgement of all monies, the proper coding and posting of all receipts on behalf of the REAJ and maintaining the Accounts Receivable Ledger. This officer will also be responsible for processing monies received by the authority and completing monthly reconciliations for the Finance and Accounts Unit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Technical/Professional Responsibilities
- Posts and balances Accounts Receivable Ledger on a daily basis.
- Verifies/ reconciles all lodgements with the Collections Officer.
- Follows up on the prompt lodgement to the relevant bank account all funds received on behalf of the REAJ.
- Classifies and codes receipts using Chart of Accounts.
- Calculates monthly depreciation charges.
- Reconciles funds received for Continuing Professional Development Courses (CPD’s) with the relevant officers.
- Assists with the preparation of receipts for cash, cheques and credit/debit card transactions ensuring that the amounts received are correct and receipt is properly drawn.
- Assists in the preparation of journal entries.
- Follows established internal controls at all times and identifies/recommends enhancements when necessary.
- Supports Senior Revenue Officer on revenue identification.
- Assists Senior Revenue Officer with resolving outstanding balances and clients accounts’ reconciliations.
- Assists in the preparation of accounts.
- Participates in meetings, seminars, workshops, conferences relevant to the functions of the post, as required.
- Prepares and submits monthly, quarterly, annual and special progress reports.

- Experience in GOJ accounting principles, specifically accounts receivable systems
- Sound Arithmetic and Accounting Skills
- Knowledge of Accounting and Computing Application.
- Working knowledge of the FAA Act.
Minimum Required Education and Experience
- A Bachelor Degree in Accounting/Management Studies/Business Administration or related discipline with accounting specialization.
- At least one (1) years’ experience in a related field.
Or
- AAT Level 2 or any equivalent Accounting/Management professional qualification.
Or
- Mind Government Accounting Level 2.
Plus
- At least two (2) years’ experience in a related field.
Working Conditions
Typical office working conditions may be required to work long periods outside of usual working hours.
