Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Group Corporate Accounting team in the capacity of:
Accounting Officer - Real Estate Accounting
Provide financial accounting support to the Assistant Manager – Real Estate Accounting, Corporate Office to ensure timely updating of general ledger for managed properties and accurate completion of financials, schedules and bank reconciliation.
Location: Kingston
As an Accounting Officer, you will:
- Liaise with Accounts Payable, Operations Units, etc. to obtain the requisite details to address reconciling items.
- Ensure that the accounting entries are correctly posted for receipts and payments.
- Ensure that the reconciliations are required and preparation is done by stipulated deadline to ensure reconciling items are cleared prior to month end close.
- Calculate the fees for each property as per management agreement.
- Prepare monthly invoices and ensure the documents are correctly approved.
- Follow through to ensure that payments are completed.
- Monitor and ensure the timely receipt of utility bills with the assistance of the SPS Officers and input utility bills for Voyager.
- Process utility payments using Netteler and record relevant transactions on Voyager.
- Provide reconciliation/ analysis of Supplier statements as requested.
- Process SPS management fees incurred by Sagicor Group Subsidiaries.
- Create required accounting entries for transactions to be updated to the general ledger.
- Analyze accounts for each property to book relevant accruals for Electricity, Water and Security expenses.
- Update supporting schedules.
- Ensure that all receipts and payments are processed on the day received.
- Ensure that relevant accounting entries are booked.
- Perform any other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or ACCA Level II qualifications, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized tertiary institution.
- At least two (2) years’ working experience in a similar position.
- Knowledge of accounting standards (IFRS), and general accounting practices and techniques.
- Familiarity with computerized accounting systems.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills both orally and in writing.
- Strong analytical, conceptual thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- High proficiency in the use of computer software applications including spreadsheets and word processing.
