The Accounting Officer is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate project-based accounting, cost tracking, and compliance with financial controls.

The Accounting Officer is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate project-based accounting, cost tracking, and compliance with financial controls. This role plays a critical part in monitoring project budgets, managing vendor payments, supporting billing processes, and maintaining financial integrity across multiple construction and project management initiatives.

The Accounting Officer works closely with project managers, procurement teams, and senior leadership to ensure financial data is accurate, timely, and aligned with project performance objectives.

 

Primary Duties

 

Coordinate Project Financial Planning

  • Assist in the preparation of weekly cash flow
  • Reconcile Bank Accounts

Maintain Accounts Payable

  • Reconcile source documents (POs, delivery notes & invoices) and post approved invoices accordingly to Procore (to the relevant job/project) or Quickbooks, whichever is applicable
  • Reconcile suppliers’ statements with vendors’ accounts in the accounts payable
  • Prepare vendor payments electronically or via manual cheques as required
  • Update payments weekly in Quickbooks

Maintain Accounts Receivable

  • Adhere to proper approval procedures for invoices and allocation of funds before payment is processed
  • Ensure payments received are updated on a timely basis to the correct customers’ accounts
  • Maintains accounting records by making copies, scanning and filing documents.

 Provide support for auditors and interact with them as required

  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules for required general ledger accounts
  • Provide necessary details and clarification requested to support recorded financial transactions

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Qualifications

  • ACCA certified level I or Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent qualifications.

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Good human relations skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet and establish deadlines
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in work product

Knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience of accounting computer applications - QuickBooks

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the use of accounting systems
