Job Overview: The Accounting Officer is responsible for the proper recording of accounting information consistent with accounting standards, ensuring that proper accounting and control procedures are adhered to.

The Accounting Officer is responsible for the proper recording of accounting information consistent with accounting standards, ensuring that proper accounting and control procedures are adhered to.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports for submission to the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare monthly bank, credit card & suppliers reconciliations.
  • Prepare monthly audit schedules.
  • Assist in preparation of month end journals.
  • Prepare reports to ensure company meets its cash-flow projections.  
  • Prepare bank lodgments within a timely manner.
  • Prepare the daily bank balances report by 10 a.m.
  • Ensure that all transactions (sales and daily cash lodgments) are captured and reported within the general ledger on a timely basis- posted by the following day.
  • Ensure supplier balances are kept within the credit limit and period.
  • Update weekly payment report for transactions that are due for JAD and USD suppliers.
  • Posting invoices promptly to the AP sub-ledger.
  • Process payments to USD and JAD suppliers promptly.
  • Process Payment Batches for All Bank Accounts.
  • Review Supplier Balances monthly for any incorrect adjustments.
  • Prepare monthly AP sub-ledger reconciliation.
  • Assist in processing landed cost documentations for entry into accounting system.
  • Prepare Monthly Statutory Returns to be submitted by the 10th of each month.
  • Assist in weekly inventory counts of high value items.
  • Prepare weekly Petty Cash Report.
  • Preparation of Monthly salary deduction report.
  • Ensure Proper Filing system is maintained.
  • Attend quarterly and annual inventory counts.
  • Prepare company returns.
  • Assist in annual financial audits.
  • Any other function deemed necessary in ensuring the successful running of CBF’s daily operations.

Qualification

  • BSC or ACCA level II or equivalent qualifications from a recognised institution.
  • Two (2) years related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties.

                   

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Good organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate well (both in written and oral formats) with all levels of staff.
  • Must be an excellent team player.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Knowledge of Sage is an asset.
