Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Insurance Accounting team in the capacity of:

 

 

Accounting Officer – IFRS 17

 

Reconcile IFRS 17/ Risk Integrity entries for insurance contracts, resolve related differences and escalate as appropriate.

 

Prepare inputs for Risk Integrity runs.

 

Maintain reinsurance accounting, related reconciliations, payments and recovery.

 

Ensure accuracy of expense allocation in general ledger and related administrative systems. 

 

Liaise with external parties as needed.

 Location: Kingston

 

 As an Accounting Officer, you will:

 

  • Review Risk Integrity (RI) Reports; perform reconciliation for IFRS 17 and related analysis by product, portfolio or measurement model.
  • Act as a liaison with the actuarial team to ensure the accurate evaluation of the financial results.
  • Acts as Finance Liaison and lead test person for upgrades to RI and Axis as appropriate.
  • Collate information necessary for RI runs for the short-term portfolio.
  • Prepare reports for consumption in RI and check RI results against expectations and close any related reconciling gaps.
  • Prepare templates for consumption in Risk Integrity.
  • Maintain reinsurance billings and payments for SLJ and SLC each month.
  • Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger for Insurance Accounts for both Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited (SLJ) and Sagicor Life Cayman (SLC).
  • Perform any other job-related duties, from time to time, that may be necessary to the proper functioning of the Insurance Accounting Department.

 

What do you need?

 

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or ACCA Level II qualifications, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • At least two (2) years’ working experience in accounting or related field.
  • Attention to details and excellent time management skills.
  • Good human relations skills.
  • Sound knowledge in the use of computer software applications including spreadsheets and word processing.
