Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Insurance Accounting team in the capacity of:
Accounting Officer - Bank Reconciliation
Manage and monitor internal controls to ensure they are maintained in accordance with Group procedures.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all divisions within the Group: Customer Service, Business Support Unit (BSU), Financial System Administration (FSA) and Corporate Trust to ensure timely processing of transactions.
Location: Kingston
As an Accounting Officer - Bank Reconciliation, you will:
- Prepare timely and accurate bank reconciliations for Sagicor Group (Life and Subsidiaries, Banking, Investment and Trust).
- Research and settle unreconciled items within Group Standards.
- Ensure accurate and timely journals are prepared on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
- Analyse and prepare GIAS/CAPSIL cheque log for SBJ bank account daily.
- Prepare or revalidate staled dated cheques.
- Prepare monthly non-bank reconciliation.
- Review/manage daily activities to ensure that transactions posted to General Ledger are accurate and complete.
- Manage and monitor internal controls to ensure they are maintained in accordance with Group procedures.
- Prepare various audit schedules on a monthly basis within Group Standards
- Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
- At least two (2) years working experience in Accounting.
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- Sound knowledge of accounting techniques/frameworks.
- Sound knowledge of bank reconciliation processes.
- Excellent attention to detail, Persistency and drive.
- Excellent work ethics and research skilled.
- Familiarity with computerised Accounting System.
- Flexibility.
- The candidate should be deadline driven with excellent time management, research and problem solving skills, a strong team player.
- Ability to communicate and articulate ideas and information clearly and concisely both orally and written.
