Accounting Assistant - Local payables

The incumber is responsible for assisting with general accounting activities and the timely payment of local suppliers.

The incumbent is responsible for assisting with general accounting activities and the timely payment of local suppliers.

 Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

• Code and post approved invoices
• Generate debit notes with proper supporting documentation to suppliers where necessary in a timely manner and distribute to suppliers within 48hrs of Debit Notes being signed off .
• Ensure cheque payment and wire transfers are done accurately, on time, and all queries resolved before any payment is generated.
• Reconcile payments to cheque registers.
• Reconcile & analyze suppliers’ statements to AP for relevant Suppliers
• Reconcile & analyze GL to Sub-ledger.
• Process or approve contract drivers’ payment.
• Any other related duties as assigned.

 Knowledge & Experience: 

• Minimum of ACCA Level or equivalent qualification
• A minimum of one (1) year similar experience
• Experience in a fast paced accounting environment will be an asset.
• Or relevant combination of training and experience
