Accounting Assistant

The Accounting Assistant s responsible for supporting the Senior Management Accountant with Budgeting, Forecasting and Analysis and supports in the preparation of timely and accurate Management Reports and Statements.

Specific Duties

q  Works with the Senior Management Accountant in the preparation of forecasts, budgets and other reviews of costs incurred by the Company and assists with ensuring that proper mechanisms are implemented to track same on a real-time basis.

q  Download and review General Ledgers and prepare mid-month report of costs for all departments along with the Senior Management Accountant for submission to all Managers and Heads of Departments by mid-month of each month.

q  Prepares analysis of all expense accounts in GL monthly. This should be completed by 2^nd working day following close of financials. N.B. Discrepancies must be reported to Accountants as soon as identified and ensure corrections if needed are completed.

q  Analyze salaries and wages along with the Senior Management Accountant before submission to all Managers and Heads of Departments by 6^th working day of each month.

q  Prepares analysis/listing of all Inventory journals that are recorded in expenses accounts in General Ledger.

q  Assists with the preparation of Budget Variance reports for all cost and revenue centers by the 14^th working day of the month.

q  Assists with the preparation of qualitative budget variance reports in accordance with agreed timelines.

q  Assists with coordinating meetings with the various Departmental Managers to obtain explanations for variances between budgets and actuals.

q  Works closely with the Senior Management Accountant in analyzing cost for the respective divisions.

q  Enter bank deposits daily to facilitate bank reconciliations

q  Ensuring that filing is up to date for Management Accounting

Minimum Qualification and Experience 

q  An intermediate accounting qualification such as Certified Accounting Technician (C.A.T.), or pursing ACCA level II

q  A minimum of two years’ experience in the accounting field assisting with budgeting, forecasting and analysis
