Job Summary

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for performing accounting and clerical duties related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and perform cheque runs.
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions.
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
  • Maintain vendor files.
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits.
  • Maintain confidentiality of organizational information.
Required Knowledge and Competencies
  • Knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Peachtree Accounting Software.
  • Proficient and accurate in data entry.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Team oriented.
  • Strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
Qualification and Experience
  • Demonstrated competence and/or competencies normally acquired over a minimum of 2-3+ years in a similar position and in accounts payable and general accounting.
  • ACCA Level 1 Certification
