The Accounting Assistant will be required to assist the Accountant in the conduct of reconciliations, weekly payroll, stock counts and other accounting requirement for the Company and its subsidiaries.

Duties & Responsibilities   

A summary of the duties and responsibilities are, but is not exclusive to:

  1. Reconciliation of monthly physical stock and stock movements to the accounting software.
  2. Preparation of stock reports and schedules as required.
  3. Preparation of monthly local currency and foreign currency Bank Reconciliations, including Jamaica.
  4. Processing of weekly payroll.
  5. Processing of local and foreign supplier invoices ensuring that the invoices are recorded and payment issued by relevant due dates. This encompasses liaising with suppliers and internal departments to collect relevant data to process payments.
  6. Preparation of accounts payables reports, costings and schedules.
  7. Performs reconciliations on all assigned General Ledger accounts.
  8. Performs physical stock counts when assigned.
  9. Perform data entry and clerical ad hoc duties when assigned.
  10. Perform any other job-related duties which may be assigned by Management

 Qualifications

  • 5 CXC O’Levels including Mathematics or Principles of Accounts and English
  • ACCA Level I or equivalent
  • Currently pursuing ACCA Level II or equivalent
  • Must be Computer Literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Prior knowledge of using an ERP system
  • Or any suitable combination of qualifications and experience

 Experience

  • At least four (4) years training in a computerized accounting unit where a working knowledge of accounting routines has been acquired.

Skills                          

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Must be able to process large amounts of numerical data with speed and accuracy.
  • Must be confidential.
  • Must be a team player and willing to perform extra duties without hesitation.
