The Accounting Assistant supports the company's financial operations by ensuring accurate data entry and processing of all general ledger transactions, assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Job Duties:

  1. Daily reconciliations of all bank accounts (TTD & USD), ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded, accounted for, and that any discrepancies are investigated and resolved in a timely manner
  2. Monthly reconciliations of Credit Card accounts, entry of journals
  3. Verification of daily sales reports from retail outlets and head office sales.
  4. Daily reconciliations of excel database to point of sales
  5. Track and record all incoming payments from customers
  6. Follow up on unpaid invoices and late payments
  7. Communicate with customers to resolve payment issues and answering inquiries
  8. Monitor receivables, identify overdue customer balances for further action
  9. Perform quarterly supplier reconciliation and resolve any discrepancies that may arise
  10. Perform periodic stock count and spot checks at all locations
  11. Investigate count variances in a timely manner and promptly report finding to the Accountant/Inventory Control Coordinator
  12. Monthly SL to GL reconciliations ensuring all entries are accurately captured
  13. Prepare and file Vat Returns bi-monthly
  14. Assist with year-end stock counts on both frozen and dry goods for Head Office, Retail Outlets, Vans.
  15. Monthly reconciliation Goods in Transit and Advance Payments accounts
  16. Carry out fixed asset verification exercises at Head Office and the Store Locations
  17. Assist in the monthly and annual closing process
  18. Maintain the Shipments Log
  19. Maintain the FX payments log
  20. Any ad hoc reporting as required

Requirements:

  • Must have at least:
    • Level 1 ACCA completed.
    • CAT qualified.
  • Accounting experience required
  • Accounting software experience preferably in QuickBooks and/or Peachtree
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills
  • A valid Police Certificate of Good Character

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent time-management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented individual with great problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of professionalism.
