ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

(6-Month Contract)

Location: Couva

Qualifications & Required Skills:

  • Minimum ACCA Level 2 with 3–5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax obligations, and loan management
  • Proficiency in invoice validation, processing, and vendor management systems
  • Ability to prepare and analyze cash forecasts and reconciliations
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to 100% accuracy
  • Proficiency in using financial/accounting software and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational and document control skills
  • Strong communication and vendor relationship management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Knowledge of internal controls, audit processes, and compliance requirements

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Validate, process, and code invoices in line with budgets and internal controls
  • Ensure timely vendor payments via cheques, wire transfers, and EFTs
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve outstanding invoice issues
  • Maintain and update the supplier database with accurate vendor details
  • Prepare accurate cash forecasts and monitor daily bank balances
  • Manage inter-company invoices and ensure compliance with policies
  • Accrue for unprocessed invoices and enter journal transactions accurately
  • Support loan management, including interest schedules and payment documentation
  • Ensure proper filing and document control for all accounts payable records
  • Provide data and support for audits, ensuring timely resolution of queries
  • Handle petty cash requests, receipts, and bank deposits
  • Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned
