Core Functions:
The Accounting and Administrative Officer is responsible for assisting the Finance Manager in the accounting, reporting and administrative functions of the Company. The incumbent is expected to assist heavily with:
• Maintaining an accurate General Ledger
• Financial Reporting (both Statutory & Management reports)
• Day-to-day administrative duties
This role includes the responsibility to administer the proper functioning of the controls surrounding the general ledger, including but not limited to the preparation of:
• Transactions/analyses/reconciliations as directed
• Analyses and reconciliation of all sub-ledgers (e.g. Payroll, Loans, Investments etc.)
• Evaluation of accounting treatment for routine transactions
• Preparation of simple financial statements and simple financial statement note disclosures
The incumbent is expected to remain apprised of, the company’s operations, macro-economic variables (changes in interest rates, new security issues, competitor products, financial performance etc.), generally accepted accounting practices, International Accounting Standards and stated policies and procedures of the company.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
• ACCA certification would be an asset.
• At least two (2) years’ experience in accounting in a financial institution.
