A consulting and technology services company serving clients across Jamaica and the Caribbean is seeking a detail-oriented and highly professional Accountant to support its financial operations and strategic growth initiatives.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to contribute to financial management, business planning, compliance, and decision-making within an innovative organisation focused on helping clients improve performance through strategy execution, business transformation, and technology solutions.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the organisation through accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll administration, statutory compliance, and financial record management.

The successful candidate will provide valuable financial insights to support business decisions, monitor financial performance, and help drive operational efficiency and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Management Accounting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Produce monthly management accounts and analytical reports
  • Prepare financial reports for management and the Board
  • Analyse financial performance and explain significant variances
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation

Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Planning

  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets
  • Develop cash flow projections and financial forecasts
  • Monitor budget performance and prepare variance reports
  • Support management with financial planning and resource allocation decisions

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Manage accounts payable and ensure timely settlement of obligations
  • Manage accounts receivable and support collection efforts
  • Monitor outstanding balances and prepare ageing reports
  • Maintain accurate supplier and customer account records

Payroll & Statutory Compliance

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Calculate and remit statutory deductions and taxes
  • Prepare and submit statutory returns
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and tax requirements
  • Coordinate annual filings with regulatory agencies

Banking & Cash Management

  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations
  • Monitor cash balances and banking transactions
  • Support cash flow management and liquidity planning
  • Maintain relationships with banking institutions as required

Financial Analysis & Business Support

  • Assist with pricing models and profitability analysis
  • Prepare financial evaluations for business cases and investment proposals
  • Conduct cost-benefit and return-on-investment analyses
  • Support procurement evaluations and supplier assessments
  • Provide financial information to support strategic decision-making

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain accurate financial records within QuickBooks and other approved systems
  • Recommend improvements to financial reporting and accounting processes
  • Support automation and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in accounting or finance
  • Experience preparing financial statements and management accounts
  • Experience managing payroll and statutory compliance
  • Experience using QuickBooks Accounting Software

Professional Certification

  • ACCA, CPA, CAT, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification would be an asset
