Accountant

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable General Accountant to manage all aspects of accounting operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with local statutory requirements. The role requires strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks, with the ability to handle end-to-end accounting functions independently.


Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Perform bank and cash reconciliations
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Process and monitor payroll calculations (including NIS, PAYE, Health Surcharge)
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with Trinidad and Tobago regulations
  • Assist with tax filings and compliance
  • Monitor company expenses and ensure proper cost allocation
  • Prepare budgets and financial forecasts
  • Generate reports and analysis using Microsoft Excel
  • Maintain accurate records in QuickBooks
  • Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors when required
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards

Requirements

  • ACCA Level II/III or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 2–4 years accounting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online)
  • Solid understanding of Trinidad and Tobago tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, NIS)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills

  • Experience preparing management accounts
  • Familiarity with financial reporting standards
  • Experience in a multi-entity or SME environment
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
