Job Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely and compliant tax filings, producing monthly financial statements using QuickBooks, and overseeing proper stock counts to ensure inventory accuracy across the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file all statutory tax returns accurately and on time, including but not limited to GCT, payroll taxes and corporate tax filings.
  • Record daily financial transactions accurately in QuickBooks, including sales, purchases, expenses, payroll, and bank transactions.
  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and supplier reconciliations.
    • Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports. Ensure proper classification of transactions in accordance with accounting standards.
    • Conduct and oversee regular stock counts at all company locations, ensuring adherence to company procedures.
    • Reconcile physical stock counts to inventory records and investigate discrepancies.
      • Work closely with store management and inventory teams to resolve stock variances and improve inventory controls.
      • Monitor accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely payments and collections.
      • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
      • Support internal and external audits, including inventory audits.
      • Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
      • Provide financial reports and analysis to management as required.
      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
      • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience, preferably in a retail environment.
      • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks.
      • Solid understanding of tax compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
      • Experience with inventory accounting and stock reconciliation.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
      • High level of accuracy and integrity
      • Ability to work independently
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
      • Effective communication and coordination skills

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

First degree or diploma, preferably in the field of Business/Accounts/Math ACCA level 2
