Island Routes is seeking to hire a Accountant to join the team. The successful candidate will provide support to the finance department by managing daily accounting tasks.

Accountant
Job Scope/Summary:
He/She will be responsible for managing the company’s financial information, ensuring accuracy of financial records, providing financial insights to senior management, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and laws.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and update the general ledger in accordance with accounting standards and ensure all accounts are accurate and up to date.
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations (bank, vendor, intercompany) to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain accurate supporting schedules for balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Support the month-end and year-end closing process, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Process payroll-related journal entries.
  • Prepare management reports, variance analyses, and ad-hoc financial reports.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives within the Finance Department.
  • Collaborating with other departments within the organization to ensure financial data is accurate and up to date.
  • Assist with supervision of junior accounting staff.
Qualification & Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Proven experience as an Accountant, Staff Accountant or a similar role.
  • Professional certification or progress toward CPA/ACCA qualification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (IFRS or GAAP).
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and analytical ability.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling financial information.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
