The Accountant supports the Finance Department by ensuring timely and accurate financial processing, month-end closings, and management reporting to facilitate strategic decision-making.

Job Summary: 

The Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the company’s financial records through effective accounting, reporting, and compliance practices. This role supports the Finance Department by ensuring timely and accurate financial processing, month-end closings, and management reporting to facilitate strategic decision-making.

The position requires individuals who are detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with strong knowledge of accounting principles and experience in managing complex reconciliations, payables, and general ledger functions in a dynamic environment.

 

Job Responsibility:

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts in accordance with established accounting standards.
  • Maintain and reconcile the General Ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified.
  • Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
  • Assist with consolidation of financial statements and preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Participate in the preparation of statutory financial statements and regulatory reports.
  • Support the external audit process and liaise with auditors to ensure timely completion.

Accounts Payable & Reconciliation

  • Oversee end-to-end Accounts Payable (AP) process — from invoice receipt to payment and reconciliation.
  • Review vendor statements, manage payment cycles, and ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
  • Monitor aging reports and maintain accurate AP ledgers.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in supplier accounts and ensure timely processing of payments.
  • Support cash flow forecasting through accurate and up-to-date payable data.

Month-End & Internal Controls

  • Perform month-end closing activities, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen internal controls and streamline financial processes.
  • Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting on variances.

 

 Qualifications and Experience: 

  • ACCA Level II or higher / bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting, with strong exposure to Accounts Payable, Financial Reporting, and General Ledger functions.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or FMCG environment will be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Advanced Excel required).
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/IAS).
  • Proven experience with Accounts PayableFinancial ReportingGL, and Journal Management.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Epicor, SAP, QuickBooks, or similar).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and exercise sound judgment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
