Our client, a premier producer of high-quality ready mixed concrete is searching for a detail-oriented Accountant with strong expertise in finance and accounting.
This role is essential for maintaining transparency and trust in financial reporting, which is vital for the smooth operation of the organisation.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, providing critical insights to support strategic decision-making. The individual appointed will be required to:
- Prepare comprehensive financial and operational reports, along with detailed analysis.
- Collect, analyze, and compile data from all accounting functions to ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting.
- Manage the preparation of administrative and executive payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Develop and implement robust control systems to ensure adherence to company financial policies and statutory requirements.
- Educate management and staff on financial processes and policies, highlighting the financial impact of business and operational decisions.
- Lead cost control and reduction initiatives, ensuring that any unfavourable variances are promptly addressed and mitigated.
- Provide leadership, guidance, training and development to cultivate a motivated and effective finance team.
Preferred Profile
- The candidate must have ACCA, CPA designation or MSc. Finance
- At least 5 years’ experience in accounting
- Computer savvy
- Knowledge of accounting software packages; knowledge of Sage 100 would be an asset
- Sound analytical skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong commitment to ethical standards and integrity
- Sound people management skills, a recognized ability to collaborate with colleagues across departments to achieve common financial goals
- A confident communicator, with proven negotiating skills, highly responsive to issues, whose technical competence must be matched by strong management skills.
