Supports Finance Dept. with daily accounting for InterChem Distributors, ensuring accurate, timely records. Reports to CFO and aids in consistent, efficient financial operations across InterChem Group.

 

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Supports: The Finance Department.

Job Purpose

To provide robust financial and operational support to the Finance Department by coordinating the daily accounting and financial activities across Interchem Group of Companies. The Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial data, with direct responsibility for recording and maintaining the financial records of InterChem Distributors Limited.  Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant contributes significantly to the consistent and efficient performance of the Finance Department’s day-to-day responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Oversight & Support
    • Preparation of Product Costing - circulation within 1 week prior to shipment arrival, for review and approval by Management.
    • Assist in the preparation of accurate financial reporting.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies in accordance with Standard Accounting Best Practices.
    • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
    • Payroll processing submission at least 2 business days before the 25th of each month for review by key management.
  • Team Coordination
    • Assist in the Coordination of the activities of the Finance Department to ensure seamless financial operations.
    • Review GL accounts, bank and cash reconciliations, journal entries, AR & AR Aging for accuracy and completeness.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Consolidate daily, weekly, and monthly reports for submission to the CFO.
    • Prepare reports on key metrics - debtor days, expense trends, and payment cycles, purchase analysis and other ad hoc reports requested.
    • Conduct regular reviews of transactional accuracy and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency and mitigate internal risks.
  • Compliance & Audit Support
    • Ensure 100% statutory payments & returns filed before due dates for all entities.  Maintain updated Statutory Clearances.
    • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit queries.
    • Maintain documentation for all financial processes in line with audit and compliance standards.
  • Sustainable Process Development
    • Provide Training assistance with the implementation and upgrade of accounting software and automation tools.
    • Drive sustainability in the finance department through the adoption of paperless operations and the automation and integration of transparent and efficient financial processes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Review and confirmation of balances of the financial data for all entities are submitted within 3 working days of the month-end - including variance analysis reports.
  • Product costing reports are prepared for circulation within 1 week prior to shipment arrival, with at least 99.9% accuracy and minimal rework.
  • Payroll is submitted at least 2 business days before the 25th of each month, with 100% accuracy.
  • Complete and review all general ledger and bank reconciliations on a weekly basis, with the final monthly reconciliation review finalized by the 2nd working day of each month.
  • Weekly review of Account Receivables and Account Payables and corrected with 99% accuracy.
  • All audit schedules submitted with a turnaround time of 2 working days, with no major audit findings.
  • 100% of statutory payments & returns filed before due dates for all entities.
  • At least 5 Internal process improvements are executed annually with documented impact.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (ACCA Level II qualification is considered an asset)
  • Proficiency in integrated accounting systems such as Odoo or similar software is required.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing group accounting for multiple entities will be considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Hours of Work 7.30am – 4pm (Mon – Fri)
