The Accountant’s responsibility is to ensure the accurate recording of transactions and provide information to internal and external customers on a timely basis.

CORE FUNCTION

The Accountant’s responsibility is to ensure the accurate recording of transactions and provide information to internal and external customers on a timely basis. The incumbent will maintain relationships with internal/external auditors, regulators and statutory bodies to ensure legal compliance. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

•  Contribute to the efficient operation of the Accounting Department through the design and implementation of efficiency programmes.
• Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
• Assign and manage detailed analysis of the accounts.
• Liaise with related companies to ensure the timely reconciliation of inter- company accounts.
• Manage the preparation and analysis, in detail, of financial statements/regulatory reports presented to internal and external customers.
• Prepare regulatory and other statutory returns, ensuring accurate and timely filings.
• Coordinate and assist in the annual budget process.
• Provide guidance on accounting and control issues and make efficiency and control recommendations.
• Support the heads of department with data-driven analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPETENCIES: 

•      First Degree with major in Accounting or Finance.
•      ACCA or CPA.
•      Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a similar position.
•      In depth knowledge of stock exchange reporting.
•      Sound knowledge of Income Tax and Jamaican Companies Act.
•      Knowledge of International Accounting Standards.
•      Ability to work under pressure.
•      Strong interpersonal and team building skills.
