Banana Board Accountant Job Description

  1. Accountant (FMG/PA 2), salary range $3,770,761 - $5,071,254 per annum and any allowance(s) attached to the post.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual budgets for MOAFM with supporting schedules
  • Prepare and submit detailed financial reports monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annually for submission to MOAFM
  • Prepare bank reconciliation in accordance with company procedures; prepare journal entries, ensure accuracy of bank lodgments
  • Summarize and prepare monthly and fortnightly payrolls, prepare journal entries and post to the general ledger
  • Prepare audit schedules for submission to external auditors
  • Initiate monthly payment procedures for all payroll, statutory and other payroll deductions: prepares statutory analysis for submission to MOAF for payment to TAJ
  • Prepare direct deposits for relevant expenditure ensuring that correct procedures are followed with relevant supporting documents provided
  • Perform any other duty that may be assigned by the Chief Accountant and General Manager from time to time
  • Ensure that records for travelling officers, staff contracts, emoluments and leave entitlement are kept up to date
  • Participate in the development of the annual project work plan and setting of performance targets

Minimum Required Qualification and Experience

  • B. Sc. in Accounting, Management Studies (majoring in Accounts) or ACCA (at least level 2)
  • Five (5) years working experience with knowledge of management techniques and supervisory practices;
  • Experience in Government accounting with emphasis on central Government regulations and procedures in accordance with the FAA Act and regulations;
