ASSISTANT SHIFT SUPERVISOR
Purpose:
To support the Shift Supervisor in managing store operations and leading the shift team, ensuring excellent customer service, adherence to company standards, and efficient operational performance.
Key Accountabilities:
Operations
- Assist in supervising store operations and the shift team to uphold exceptional customer service.
- Monitor and verify staff positioning in line with shop activity and priorities.
- Maintain store presentation and standards, including accurate pricing and expiry date checks, in coordination with the other departments.
- Communicate shift objectives, sales targets, promotions, new products, and policy updates at the start of each shift.
- Track daily sales and report any performance concerns or variances to the Operations Manager.
- Support opening and closing procedures alongside the Shift Supervisor.
- Coordinate daily shift schedules, oversee shift inventory counts and support management during the bi-annual inventory counts.
- Maintain high operational standards including cleanliness, product facing, and stock replenishment.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor or Management to support store operations and team objectives.
People
- Foster team morale by recognizing strong performance and exemplary customer service.
- Motivate and coach team members while communicating incentive outcomes daily.
- Assist in evaluating employee performance and supporting development.
- Help coordinate leave schedules and manage absences, ensuring adequate shift coverage.
Customer Service
- Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service.
- Engage with customers to understand and address their needs or concerns.
- Facilitate communication of customer feedback and team input to relevant departments.
Responsibilities
- Provide full support to the Shift Supervisor in all store management areas.
- Promote a positive work culture through respectful and professional collaboration with colleagues, customers, and vendors.
- Act as Shift Supervisor in their absence, assuming full responsibility for shift operations.
Mentoring, Training and Employee Development
- Set and achieve goals during each review period.
- Take advantage of the training opportunities that are offered.
Experience Required
- Essential: Minimum 3 years of retail experience.
- Preferred: At least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role.
Specific Requirements
- Standing for extended period of time.
- Available to work store shifts in a 24/7 environment.
- Good command of English.
