ASSISTANT FINANCE ADVISOR
SOS Children’s Villages is looking for:
ASSISTANT FINANCE ADVISOR
Under direct supervision of the National Finance Advisor, the Assistant Finance Advisor is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and timely reporting to support sound financial decision-making.
Required Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from a recognized University.
- Minimum of (three) 3 years of experience in similar positions.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Reports to Finance Advisor with responsibility for the:
To support the Finance Advisor in the strategic planning of the National Association
- To monitor the implementation of the annual budget of the SOS programs and to support the coordination of the creation of the annual budget from the National Association with the different areas
- To support the preparation of the significant financial information for decision making by Management, The Board of Directors and other partners
- Processing of invoices, purchase orders and other financial documents
- Processing staff expenses (per diems, travel advances, refunds)
- Administering proper coding of income and expenditure as per budget allocation
- Preparation of relevant payment and receipt vouchers and follow up any outstanding issues
- Preparation of monthly accounts, bank registers and bank reconciliations
- Data entry in Microsoft D365 accounting software.
- Preparation of inventory and maintain updated records of the Organization property
- Ensuring implementation of finance related international policies, standard and guidelines
- Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits
- Handle bank related issues when required and management of petty cash transactions
- Assist in the preparation of budget comparison as required by the association
- Support the updating of the association’s fixed asset register
Required Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of accounting packages, computer packages, budgetary control and internal audits.
- Experience in NGO work environment an asset
- Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Knowledge of Microsoft D365 is preferable
- Ability to prepare clear, well-structured and visually engaging financial reports
- Credibility, integrity, confidentiality
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Able to respond to changing priorities
- Ability to understand and communicate in Spanish would be an asset
