Reporting to the Financial Controller the Accountant will apply accounting principles to ensure accurate financial reporting and maintain strong internal controls to support decision-making

ACCOUNTANT

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records and financial reports for accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Generate monthly and ad hoc financial statements and management reports.
  • Perform month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
  • Oversee cash flow and cash handling procedures for the retail sales division.
  • Maintain and improve controls over cash, sales transactions, and refunds.

Accounts & Payroll

  • Supervise accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely collections and payments.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll and related data.
  • Assist with budget preparations and ongoing expense management for assigned accounts.

Compliance & Audit Support

  • Liaise with external auditors, banks, and tax authorities.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation.
  • Ensure conformance to accounting policies, reporting procedures, and regulatory standards.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members within the accounting department.
  • Coordinate with the wider finance team to ensure completion of assigned tasks within deadlines.
  • Respond to accounting queries from management in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements

  • ACCA Level II or a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ accounting experience at the supervisory level.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in general accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid experience with accounts payables, receivables, fixed assets, inventory, and payroll.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact across all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and sound judgment.
  • Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and continuous improvement.
