Bio of the Public Broadcasting Corporation of Jamaica (PBCJ)
The PBCJ is an agency of Government mandated to preserve and promote Jamaican culture and strengthen civic pride through informing. The PBCJ was established in 1997 by an Act of Parliament.
The PBCJ’s vision is to be recognized as the catalyst for positive change through production and exhibition of creative, credible and inspiring programming.
The PBCJ’s mission is providing quality broadcasting services to the widest cross-section of the population diaspora; facilitating the articulation of contending views through private and public sectors by allowing free expression for the arts, culture, education and cultural affairs. The strategic direction of PBCJ is to become a major supplier of Jamaican and Caribbean content across all the major platforms (television, radio, and new media).
