The Tote Computer Operator is required to accurately input and manipulate data on the Tote Computer System and accurately log and communicate information to Off Track Betting Parlours (OTB) and On-Track Operators and other Technical Personnel.

TOTE COMPUTER OPERATOR (Caymanas Park)

Supreme Ventures Racing & Entertainment Limited is seeking to identify the ideal candidate for the position of TOTE Computer Operator. The incumbent will be required to accurately input and manipulate data on the Tote Computer System and accurately log and communicate information to Off Track Betting Parlours (OTB) and On-Track Operators and other Technical Personnel.

Key Functions:

• Prepare the Tote Betting system for business at startup as required and follow system monitoring procedures as required.
• Input required data on the Tote Computer system, then check or verify that all information inputted on the system is correct.
• Liaise with OTB Parlours and technicians to ensure that all technical issues are promptly resolved.
• Liaise with local and overseas service providers to resolve any technical issues related to the Tote Computer, satellite or data transmission systems.
• Troubleshoot technical issues being experienced by OTB’s over the phone and where possible, guide OTB personnel through the steps of getting network and/or audio-visual equipment back to operating conditions.
• Set up COTS Terminals for OTB’s/On-Track when the need arises and troubleshoot said COTS terminals when issues occur.
• Perform repairs and reconfiguration of COTS terminals for OTBs through a remote connection as the need arises.
• Perform daily checks on the Guyana betting community by liaising with the Guyana operators and technicians to ensure betting is enabled and equipment is fully operational.
• Generate multiple electronic reports at the end of the day as a part of the data backup procedure.
• Proactively monitor and handle all incidents reported via telephone calls or emails.
• Troubleshoot/ Communicate with Roberts Communication Network (RCN) to ensure the decoders are authorized for signal reception - simulcast/ Caymanas’ content in all OTB’s in Jamaica/ Guyana, and where necessary advise the Racing Department to schedule the relevant decoders which are not yet in the database.
• Assist the Broadcast Unit with any Tote-related data needs to ensure accurate Tote data is populated in the graphic displays for Caymanas and simulcast races

Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required:

• Associate Degree in Information Technology or equivalent
• Industry certifications would be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA, A+, CCNA, etc)
• One (1) year working experience in a related technical capacity
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience in or exposure to the Horseracing Industry would be an asset
• Basic understanding of Windows Server OS and LAN and MAN networking technologies
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
• Keen attention to details
