We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Analyst who will play an integral role in the execution of the company's enterprise data governance framework and supports the Senior Manager Analytics and Governance who has primary responsibility for enterprise-wide data governance activities. 

The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and maintaining a robust data governance environment primarily through data risk assessments and ensuring the timely assignment and remediation of data incidents. The Senior Data Governance Analyst is the liaison between data governance team and business unit data stewards in ensuring that data management policies and procedures are communicated and embedded within the lines of business.  As a Senior Data Governance Analyst, you will play an active role throughout the entire engagement cycle, specializing in solutions covering data governance, data quality and data classification.

Responsibilities:

  • Administers the Enterprise Data Governance programme by creating processes in support of data management practices to ensure compliance with the bank’s data governance and management policies.
  • Reviews data management practices in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Analytics and Governance to ensure that the business is both aware of developments and operates within the company's Enterprise Data Governance framework. This will include making recommendations to the Senior Manager on any updates that are required to processes, policies or business activities.
  • Analyze The effectiveness of data management processes and procedures in Technology and lines of businesses To identify and close gaps and reduce material data risks.
  • Conducts in depth monitoring of adherence data management processes to ensure compliance with regulatory authorities and data management standards.
  • Develops and maintains key effective relationships with unit leaders, data owners, data stewards and data custodians ensuring that there is clarity and consistency in methodology and practices for data management and governance throughout and across the business units.
  • Assists the Senior Manager and accountable officers in assessing data risks arising from all projects, products and change initiatives impacting the Line of Businesses (LOB) to ensure that material risks are appropriately identified and mitigated.
  • Provides support to data owners and stewards responsible for resolving data incidents under their purview and developing achievable action plans with realistic due dates to ensure that data incidents are remediated within agreed timeframe.
  • Monitors and tracks Data Incidents by attending weekly or monthly meetings (data quality working group etc.) to ensure that action plan owners are executing remedial actions as scheduled thereby minimising the Bank’s exposure.

Requirements:

  • 7 – 10 years banking experience, with a proven background in governance and control functions inclusive of the KCARs, SOX and quarterly assertion processes.
  • Understanding of the company's data environment.
  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data management.
  • Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement design.
  • Experience in risk management, control testing, remediation management and reporting.
  • In-depth understanding of process improvement, risk, control and deficiency management to provide leadership to the business units.
  • Good understanding of end-to-end banking process flows to be able to develop controls in the context of new process development and providing a good basis for identifying risk and the absence of control.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in quantitative areas such as Computer Science or Information Technology.
