We invite applications for a new Digicel Opportunity - IPTV Headend Test Engineer
Primary objective of the job:
- The objective of this position is to manage the staging, testing and Quality Assurance of the IPTV & OTT infrastructure and services
Number of persons managed/supervised and their positions: 0
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- End-to-end IPTV troubleshooting, from customer premises to Headend
- Schedule firmware upgrades and software updates on key systems
- Video quality assurance, to include staging and testing of service
- Participate in developing, documenting and executing verification test strategy and test plans
- Develop, write and execute detailed integration and verification test cases
- Write clear, concise and understandable detailed problem descriptions and test reports
- Work closely with development team and Customer services team on feature integration, problem discovery and problem resolution
- Review design documents and formulate test plans, test procedures, and test cases
- Develop and execute test plans and test cases per customer/marketing/engineering requirements
- Ensure that all problems found during test are effectively debugged and logged by using a
- Initiating test plans, provide status reviews, and setup lab/test environment for proper test case execution and reporting test completion status
- Communicate effectively with all team members and with the management team concerning product failures and defects (verbal and written
communication)
- Should be able to train other team members for the above tasks
Academic qualifications and experience required for job:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience in the Quality Assurance and Test area of IPTV Headend & OTT infrastructure
- Knowledge of MPEG 4 / HD / SD
- Knowledge of Conditional Access (CAS), Digital Rights Management (DRM)
- Experience working on Harmonic/Minerva/Verimatix Vendor systems
Functional Skills:
Strong Knowledge about the following technologies:
- IPTV technologies including middleware, encoders and EPG
- Web technologies like PHP, HTML, JS etc.
- Knowledge of programming languages TCL, PERL, and UNIX Shell scripts.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Good spoken and written communication skills.
- Project and Contractual management skills.
- Vendor Management experience, including contractual, project, operational and technical management.
Internal/External contacts:
- Various vendors and suppliers
- Internal departments
Authority: (those task in which there is total control and autonomy in execution - e.g. approving vouchers, signing cheques, delegating task.) Please
state limits where possible.
- Full authority to act within scope of responsibility
- Authority to execute other activities as directed by the Headend Engineer
Working Conditions: (e.g. dust, dirt, heat, abnormal hours, frequent travel, overtime, etc.
- May need to work on a shift basis
- May need to work long hours

- Channel availability
- Channel start time
- Channel change time
- Channel join time
- Channel change failure rate
- DRM response time
- Other KPIs related to signalling, transport and content
