Group Tax Manager with Digicel based in Jamaica

JOB TITLE:
Group Tax Manager
DEPARTMENT: Finance
REPORTS TO (TITLE): Head of Tax, Digicel Caribbean & Central America
Primary objective of the job:
An outstanding opportunity for a strong tax professional seeking a new challenge in a dynamic and fast paced environment. Reporting to the Head of Tax, Digicel Caribbean & Central America, the role provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious professional to gain international experience and achieve significant career progression.
Number of persons managed/supervised and their positions:
None - the role requires the person to be self-starter. The wider tax team will comprise 4/5 individuals
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of Quarterly Tax Packs and preparation of Current and Deferred Tax computations.
  • Preparation of quarterly presentation highlighting the Group's key tax numbers for Senior Management.
  • Responsibility for all taxation numbers included in the Group's financial statements.
  • Preparation and updating of tax projections.
  • Management of tax compliance of several markets in the region in conjunction with the local finance teams of each market.
  • Increasing tax awareness and compliance across the business.
  • Identifying and managing tax risk across all tax heads within the Group's markets.
  • Researching new tax legislation in the Group's markets and liaising with the Group's tax advisers.
  • Working with the Head of Tax, Digicel Caribbean & Central America on various special projects and other presentations, including tax technical research.
  • Providing support for tax due diligence on proposed acquisitions.
  • Supporting the tax integration of new acquisitions into the Digicel structure.
  • Improving tax related processes and recording of information throughout the Group.
  • Management of tax advisory fees and liaising with the Group's Audit Committee.
  • Review of the Group's revenue streams and analysis of taxation impact from a VAT / WHT perspective.
Academic qualifications and experience required for job:
  • ACA
  • ITI - Irish Taxation Institute
  • University Degree
  • 4-5 years working in a corporate tax department in industry or in a Big 4 or next tier firm
  • A good understanding of VAT is desirable.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills
  • Strong Accounting and Tax Accounting Knowledge
  • Strong Organisational and Analytical skills
  • Excellent academics and good commercial awareness are required
  • Good Interpersonal and Communication skills
  • Self motivated and proactive
