AIDS Healthcare Foundation

AIDS Healthcare Foundation

AHF, the largest global AIDS organization—which now provides HIV/AIDS care and services, including antiretroviral treatment, to more than 823,000 people in 39 countries—will mark its 30th anniversary throughout the end of 2017 with global events, including screenings of the film, ‘Keeping the Promise—AHF 30 Years.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is the largest non-governmental service organization providing care and support to persons living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. The Foundation currently provides compassionate care to over 820,000 persons living with HIV across 39 countries and 15 states within the USA. Our current focus includes getting individuals on treatment (with a goal of 1,000,000 on ARV treatment by 2020), linkage and retention in care and the provision of high quality care leading to sustained viral suppression for those attending the facilities we support.

Advocating for the implementation of the WHO guidelines of “Test and Treat”, we focus on identifying those in need of treatment through a robust testing programme for HIV and other STIs including the Human Papilloma virus. Our testing programme also affords us the opportunity to enhance risk reduction interventions to reduce vulnerability to transmission and this is complemented by increase in access to condoms and tests for STIs. These condoms and test kits are provided free of cost to individuals through our integrated wellness centers, direct donation to governments and NGOs or through jointly implementing activities at government operated facilities.

We advocate for equal rights and treatment for all, and currently our advocacy strategies are focused on bringing attention to the following Issues:

· Fund the fund - aimed at getting countries to honor their pledges to the Global Fund;

· Rights of women and girls and particularly violence against women;

· The World Bank ranking criteria - We advocate for a redefining of the income level that determines middle income status, moving it from $2.86/day to $10.00/day; and

· Youth and their vulnerabilities with particular attention on young men in Jamaica
