Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA):

 

SENIOR INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS OFFICER

 

Responsible for coordinating the Authority’s Industrial Relations function in order to promote sound labour practices and the maintenance of industrial peace between management, staff, trade unions and related legal entities. 

 Main Responsibilities: 

  • Assist with the interpretation and implementation of Industrial Relations policies and practices.
  • Provide accurate and appropriate industrial relations guidance to management and staff on industrial relations issues.
  • Represent the Authority in disciplinary proceedings in accordance with the appropriate regulations and collective agreement
  • Represent the Authority at the Ministry of Labour, based on advice
  • Forms part of a team, which represents the Authority at Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), Joint Negotiating Team (JNT) and other meetings.
  • Ensures preparation work for IR matters such as interviewing witnesses, taking depositions and pre-trails briefs
  • Prepares letters and other industrial relations related correspondences as required.
  • Sets up and conducts tribunals and advising prosecutors as required.
  • Support the implementation of policies concerning wages and conditions of work to ensure compliance with terms of relevant Collective Agreements and other relevant regulations.
  • Prepare reports to track the results of interventions made by the Unit to resolve industrial relations issues.
  • Prepare responses to internal and external queries relating to Industrial Relations matters.
  • Assist Manager in conducting industrial relations sensitisation sessions for staff.
  • Develop comprehensive systems for record keeping, filing of correspondences, reports and other records pertaining to the operations of the department
  • Receive complaints from employees and assist in devising solutions to Human Resource administrative problems.
  • Prepare and finalise Board Notes, circulars, organisational charts, schedules, complex items of correspondence and remedy routine queries on Human Resource matters.
  • Facilitate the implementation of decisions as taken by the Board upon the instruction of the organisational relationship.
  • Liaise with union representatives to remedy employees’ concerns.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the organisational relationship.      

 

Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Relations / Labour Studies, Bachelor of Law Degree or a related discipline, from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience as an Industrial Relations Practitioner.
  • Experience in the Public Service will be an asset.

 

* Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.
