Production Engineer - Packaging, ANSA Chemicals Limited

The Production Engineer oversees the manufacturing process and ensures that production is successful by managing all aspects of it.

• The Production Engineer oversees the manufacturing process and ensures that production is successful by managing all aspects of it. They apply principles of engineering, technology, and management to optimize production systems, enhance product quality, and drive process improvements.

Job Description:

• Supervise the manufacturing and production processes, recommend process efficiencies/improvements including production costs and labor usage.
• Provide recommendations for re-engineering and improvement to plant equipment and processes; troubleshoot process problems and take corrective action. 
• Supervise the Bleach Packaging Unit and ensure staff results are achieved through appraising job results, providing training where required, and communicating job expectations.
• Liaise with other engineers to develop process efficiencies including production, costs and labor usage.
• Prepare production schedules, budgets for projects, and reports as required for all production areas.
• Monitor all production processes and verify that operations are within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standard operating conditions and limits (SOCL).
• Monitor and verify that adherence to quality control measures/standards are maintained within specification in all production areas.
• Liaise with other Engineers and assist in the development of new projects and project implementation.
• Perform assignments for quality improvement, cost effective initiatives, audits, and employee training as necessary.
• Ensure proper checks are completed for all raw materials and finished goods.
• Conduct safety inspection in production center in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Conduct routine equipment function tests, obtain adequate material and equipment to fulfill sales demand for finished product.
• Manage raw materials usage, spare parts, and finished goods stock, and prepare reconciliation report within specified timeframe.
• Update and maintain production logs (hard copies) and required entries on the Company’s ERP system (D365).
• Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
• Perform any other job duties as required by the job function.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• BSc. Mechanical/Chemical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in a manufacturing environment at a Supervisory Level.
• Must be able to analyse and synthesize information to understand issues, identify options, and support sound decision making.
• Collaborative with the ability to be a key team player, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence.
• Ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas effectively using oral, written, visual and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to gain understanding.  
• Ability to manage employee performance for success where goals are created, competencies are incorporated, and constructive feedback is provided for continuous improvement.
• Resilient and the ability to work effectively under pressure, managing a diverse and competing workloads.
• Required to stand and sit for long periods.
• Working in dusty and hot environments.
• Exposure to chemical environment.
• Required to work after normal hours when necessary.
• Physical dexterity required.
