The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) is looking to recruit untrained persons to join our establishment for a contractual period of 5 years, (Current Serving Police Officers are NOT eligible to apply).

The BPS has several opportunities for applicants who are looking for a career in law enforcement, represent the community, and assist in ‘Making Bermuda Safer.’

 

The successful applicants must pass the following evaluations to be considered for the Recruit Foundation Course (RFC): All applicants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

  • Police Service Initial Recruitment Test (PIRT)
  • Job-Related Fitness Test (JRFT) – (Level 5.4 - 15m beep test)
  • Security Checks 
  • Suitability Testing
  • Psychological Evaluations
  • Medical Examinations (which includes BMI Assessment, optical and dental)
  • Assessment Board 

The RFC lasts for six months with on the job training, academic modules, course work, exams, and practical exercises. The academic learning on this course is undertaken and coincides with serving as Student Police Officer, which involves active frontline duties for the Bermuda Police Service.

Minimum Education Qualifications;

Applicants are required to provide evidence of a High School diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, they must have achieved passing marks in a minimum of five (5) subjects, which must include English Language and Mathematics, in any of the following examinations:

  • Caribbean Examinations Council Secondary Education Certificate (CXC/CSEC) – with grades ranging from 1 to 3 (note: grade 3 is only recognized if achieved after 1998),
  • General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O’ Level) – with grades ranging from A to C,
  • General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) – with a grade of 4 or higher.

 

 

 

 

Additional Requirements;

 

Candidates must;

  • Applicants must be between the ages of nineteen (19) and forty-nine (49) years at the start of the contract.
  • Applicants must be sufficiently conversant with the English language (oral and written)
  • Applicants must be in good physical and mental health.

Benefits

Starting salary commences at BD$76,056.00 per annum. The Bermuda dollar is on par with the US dollar. Other benefits include single-quarters accommodation at minimum rent, 24-day annual leave entitlement, medical and dental coverage and free travel expenses at half contract and end of the contract.
