Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA):

 

INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS ASSISTANT

The incumbent will be responsible for providing higher level support to the Senior Industrial Relations Officer in various tasks related to maintaining industrial peace between, management, staff, trade unions and related legal entities to ensure established objectives are achieved.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Prepares appropriate draft responses to correspondence via initiative and/or advisement by the Senior Industrial Relations Officer.
  • Assists with the preparation for all Industrial Relations matters.
  • Undertakes special projects that are important to the Industrial Relations Unit.
  • Researches industrial relations precedent to provide support.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate and confidential records related to Industrial Relations matters.
  • Prepares and organize documentation for employee grievances, disputes and resolutions.
  • Attends meetings with the Senior Industrial Relations Officer and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Industrial Relations Officer in addressing employee concerns and inquiries.
  • Aids in the mediation process by gathering relevant information preparing documentation.
  • Assists in the collection of relevant data and the submission of disciplinary matters to the required Committee.
  • Ensures preparation work for Industrial Relations matters.
  • Sets up tribunals as required.
  • Assists in tracking the results of interventions made by the Unit to resolve industrial relations issues.
  • Ensures record keeping, filing of correspondences, reports and other records pertaining to the operations of the department.
  • Advises Senior Industrial Relations Officer of complaints from employees and assist in devising solutions to Human Resource administrative problems.
  • Drafts Board Notes, circulars, schedules, complex items of correspondence and remedy routine queries on Industrial Relations matters.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by the organisational relationship. 

Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) O’level passes; two (2) of which must be English Language and Mathematics.
  • Associate Degree in Industrial Relations, or any other related Social Sciences field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar/related job.
  • Any other combination of Industrial Relations qualifications, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in the Public Service will be an asset.

 *Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.
