Data Analyst I/II - Job ID# 14067

OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE

  • The Data Analyst’s role is to design data modelling and analysis services which are used to mine enterprise systems and applications for knowledge and information that enhance business processes.
  • Is responsible for helping build, deploy, and maintain data support tools, metadata inventories, and definitions for database creation.
  • Performs research and identifies, evaluates, and implements business solutions which utilize new, emerging and disruptive technologies especially through the leveraging of the organization's data assets.

FUNCTIONS

  • Builds applications for acquiring data from primary and secondary sources and cleans and re-organizes data for analysis.
  • Analyses data sets to spot trends and patterns that can be translated into actionable insights.
  • Provides ideas and conducts research for the development of a Data Strategy for the organisation.
  • Provides ideas and conducts research for short-term tactical data management solutions to achieve long-term objectives.
  • Uses data mining and analytics architectures, coding standards, statistical reporting, and data analysis methodologies to efficiently aggregate and present quality data for business decision-making.
  • Assists in the development of data management policies and procedures and updates same.
  • Supports the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources. Establishes links across existing data sources and finds new, interesting mashups to facilitate querying of data for business decision-making.
  • Provides assistance to stakeholders to create informative visualizations that display large amounts of data and/or complex relationships.
  • Supports quality assurance best practices for data across the organization.
  • Collaborates with database and disaster recovery administrators to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets.
  • Utilises data visualization tools for development of dashboards and reports for business decision-making.
  • Scans the technology environment of the global Gas and Oil industry continuously and performs research to gain industry knowledge and insights on emerging and disruptive technologies, and documents and presents ideas/recommendations to internal team and other stakeholders.
  • Builds relationships with core business line leaders to develop a deep understanding of core business platforms and works collaboratively to define an approach to integrating new offerings that balances speed and scale.
  • Conducts requirements elicitation and analysis (via ideation workshops) with the business to create requirements documentation and business process maps that will be used for Proof of Concepts (POCs) as necessary.
  • Develops solutions that align to the lifecycle of IT solution delivery including requirements, architecture, software development (Agile/Traditional/DevOps) including POC solutions, Testing, Delivery and Production support.
  • Prepares or reviews training materials and coordinates training programs and workshops for solutions prior to transition into the production environment.
  • Develops and monitors the various controls and quality assurance procedures in the information system for applications developed in-house or obtained as packages.
  • Provides Project Risk Management support for projects by developing or contributing to Risk Assessments, Risk Management Plan and Risk Registers.
  • Supports Project Close Out and Post Project Implementation activities by conducting or developing Lessons Learnt documentation and Post Implementation Reviews.
  • Executes any other related operational, technical, and professional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements for the Data Analyst I are:

  • BSc Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant degree program.
  • Certification in Data Science would be a definite asset.
  • A recognised certificate in Project Management would be an asset.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in an Application Development or IT Solution Implementation environment.
  • Experience in Data Management, Data Visualization and Data Analytics using Artificial Intelligence, and Emerging/Disruptive technologies would be a definite asset.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry would be an asset.

The minimum requirements for the Data Analyst II are:

  • BSc Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant degree program.
  • Certification in Data Science would be a definite asset.
  • A recognised certificate in Project Management would be an asset.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in an Application Development or IT Solution Implementation environment
  • Experience in execution of Data Strategy initiatives (e.g., Master Data Management, Data Inventory Management and Data Quality Management)
  • Experience in Data Management, Data Visualization and Data Analytics using Artificial Intelligence, and Emerging/Disruptive technologies would be a definite asset.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry would be an asset.
