The Business Development Officer will develop and implement a sales and marketing strategy for key accounts and markets to meet agreed targets.

The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. in its quest to promote, assist and facilitate the efficient development of tourism and Barbados’ tourism product, is seeking to recruit an exceptionally skilled individual to fill the position of Business Development Officer for their LATAM Division in Panama.

 SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with formulating annual marketing and sales programmes and review and revise sales programmes when changes are made.
  • Conduct Sales Calls to ensure visibility of the Barbados Tourism Product and follow-up on all calls and/or visits.
  • Conduct presentations and provide detailed information on Barbados at seminars, meetings, briefing sessions, exhibitions, trade shows and the like to acquaint travel agents, tour operators and other stakeholders, with Barbados products and services and follow-up with the results of these activities.
  • Conceptualise new strategies and plans for the development of business in conjunction with the corporate strategy department.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of each promotion or sales activity and submit appropriate reports.
  • Develop a current year plan for attaining revenues and improving arrivals. 
  • Identify the formal and informal decision-making structure and key influences.
  • Develop industry knowledge and an understanding of the relevance and impact of the tourism industry in the markets assigned.
  • Represent Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. in the relevant markets.

 SUMMARY OF KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree in tourism, marketing, international sales or related subject area
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a marketing, sales, tourism or related environment.
  • Maintains a professional, diplomatic, and tactful disposition.
  • Excellent planning, prioritizing and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proactive, shows initiative and able to exercise independent judgment.
  • The ability to work under pressure and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Proficient in English and Spanish, both written and oral. Working knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset.
  • Proficient oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office suite of applications and knowledge of e-marketing systems.
  • Good understanding of government policy, priorities and issues affecting tourism.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Panama without the need for a work permit.
