The chosen incumbent will support the Group Legal Counsel/Company Secretary in the performance of a range of duties.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts legal research of case law and statutes from common law jurisdiction in order to provide advice on all legal issue that may arise from time to time.
  • Draft, review and advise on legal and other agreements.
  • Provides legal advisory and interpretation services to Directors and Managers of all subsidiaries and departments on general operational and contract matters.
  • Provides legal advisory and interpretation services to ensure statutory compliance with existing laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Works with external counsel on legal matters including but not limited to mergers and acquisitions, IR and other litigation matters.
  • Works with external counsel to ensure the filing and registration of all brand and company owned Trademarks and are up to date.
  • Assists in the Company Secretarial duties including the filing of all documents and interfacing with the T&T Stock Exchange and TTSEC.
  • Performs any other duties that may be allocated to this position from time to time. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Holder of an LLB and LEC with a minimum of 10 years’ experience. Experience working as in-house counsel will be considered an asset.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
 
  • Knowledge of the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago. Emphasis on commercial law will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to time, task and prioritise matters.
  • Ability to work with teams.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient on Microsoft Office Applications.
