The Certificate in Pan and Music Literacy curriculum has been designed to introduce the basic elements of professional pan playing and music literacy for potential professional musicians in the Caribbean. The Certificate in Pan and Music Literacy to be offered by the University of Trinidad and Tobago aims to introduce technical training to students who want to develop their skills, be more knowledgeable in music and become encouraged enough to pursue a BFA Programme in Music. In this programme, students develop the required skills through the practical application of key concepts and principles of ambidextrous pan playing. The Certificate in Pan and Music Literacy is a two (2) year programme of part time study with 55 credits, where a strong foundation in practical training and basic elements of Music Theory is established. The students would be taught the following aspects of Music: Practical, Sight-Reading and Ear Training. On completion of their studies at this level in Pan and Music Literacy, students with the appropriate academic qualifications will then be able to successfully pursue advanced studies in their desired areas of interest.
