West Indies Cricket Board (WICB)

The West Indies Cricket Board Inc. (WICB) formerly the West Indies Cricket Board of Control from its formation in 1928 to 1996, is the exclusive governing body for cricket in the West Indies. WICB has six members – the Barbados Cricket Association, the Guyana Cricket Board, the Jamaica Cricket Association, the Leeward Islands Cricket Association, the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board and the Windward Islands Cricket Board of Control. The WICB, registered in the British Virgin Islands and headquartered in Antigua, is the lawful owner of the ‘West Indies’, ‘Windies’ and ‘Windies Cricket’ brands.

The WICB also holds pre-eminent responsibility for the management, development and promotion of cricket in the region. The WICB has a commitment and responsibility to the global governing body for cricket – the International Cricket Council of which the WICB is a full member – to participate in ICC tournaments and in international cricket as stipulated by the Future Tours Programme. The WICB also has an obligation to provide the best available teams for ICC tournaments. A key pillar of the WICB’s business is the production and development of cricketers, particularly as it relates to having West Indies teams. The WICB has development programmes at all stages of cricket in the West Indies – from grassroots to Test level.
