Job Description

Assist the Technical Services Manager in order to provide high network availability for

Wisynco staff/clients and to develop and implement projects in keeping with the

department goals. Responsible for the development and integration of mission-critical

network environments.

 

Responsibilities:

Main Duties                                    

    Configuring and managing virtualized environments, including hosts, networking and storage resources.

    Consolidating and converting physical machines and rapid provisioning of virtual machines (VMs) using a central console.

    Experience in supporting virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) implementations with templates, provisioning and troubleshooting.

    Experience performing physical-to-virtual (P2V) and virtual-to-virtual (V2V) conversions for Windows and Linux.

    Provides technical leadership to the IT Support members, including representing staff issues and accomplishments to management.

    Maintains positive client relations through teaming with Help Desk to ensure that outstanding Service Requests are followed-up and resolved as quickly as possible.

    Oversees and performs both routine and non-routine systems administration for daily operations of mission-critical production systems.

     Assists in developing and implementing technical support standards, controls and procedures.

    Installs, configures and maintains, network systems and other related infrastructure to ensure maximum up time.

    Collects, analyse, and report operational data for use in maintenance, performance tuning, and capacity planning for future upgrades.

    Adheres to the agreed time-frames for the resolution all user requests, and Service Level Agreements.

    Integrates complex hardware and software systems to create technologically current and robust environments that meet stated standards.

    Conducts workshops and training aimed at developing skills of staff/client with a view to ensuring a smooth transition of new technologies.

    Developing and maintaining backup jobs and backup schedules.

    Ensure that system are backed up successfully as per schedule.

    Ensuring that backup media is properly managed and stored.

    Provides system management and administration functions, preventative maintenance, tuning and performance optimisation, patch applications, capacity planning and upgrades for PC systems under the direct responsibility of the division.

    Visits all locations managed by Wisynco to ensure that all computer and network equipment are properly maintained.

    Identifies, researches, and masters new technologies related to services that comprise Wisynco systems architecture, including audit/security, systems management, applications, and support, authentication and directory services.

    Maintains up-to-date network related manuals, procedures and other documentation.

    Any other duty as may be assigned within the scope of the job.

 

This job is satisfactorily performed when:

          Reports prepared in accordance with agreed timelines

          There is efficient resolution of service requests

          Request resources to ensure that stipulated deadlines are met

          There is minimum down time for PCs, multi-user systems and network devices

           There is maximum availability and optimal performance of network and server platforms

          Adhere to stipulated response time to respond to service requests

          100% compliance to Company policies, procedures and rules

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:  

    Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems                            

    Required to work outside of normal working hours in order to meet deadlines.

    Required to travel to all the Company’s locations in Jamaica

    Required own vehicle

    Must be the holder of a valid Driver’s license

    Required to be on 24-hour call

    At least four (4) years working experience in general Network administration.

    Experience in the installation and support of LANs and WANs

    Working experience with mainframe and Windows environments and in the establishment of industry de-facto standard communication protocols such as TCP/IP.

 

SPECIAL CONDITION ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB

May be required to work long hours, after hours and on weekends and public holidays when the need arises. Will be placed On-call as required to support IT services.
