SENIOR TRADER [Domestic, Regional and/or International Markets]

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Formulates medium to long term strategies to manage assigned portfolios on the domestic, regional, and international markets with due consideration of the company’s risk constraints
• Assists in the processing of transactions for JMMB’s managed funds (eg. Save Smart and Tax Shelter)
• Manages the portfolio’s of JMMB’s associated companies (eg. JMMB International) through maturity profile, portfolio duration and liquidity management.
• Oversee and make decisions on complex and challenging problems that may pose a threat to liquidity management that may arise from security and counterparty limit constraints.
• Make recommendations for the Portfolio Management of JMMB’s associated companies (JMMB International) as well as support and monitor performance if or once implemented.
• Overseas the management of JMMB’s liquidity position on a daily basis which includes: sourcing and placing funds (cash and securities) for the assigned portfolio within the domestic, regional and international markets, on behalf of JMMB’s clients and all of JMMB’s business units and its associated companies, which includes but is not limited to: (Trading and Treasury, Structured Finance, Investment and Research, Pensions, Insurance, Branches, JMMB International etc), so as to maximize profits.
• Overseas portfolio growth activities to ensure that assets bought and sold enhance JMMB’s profitability.
• Monitors and manages various asset positions in particular JMMB’s net currency positions so as to maximise on currency movements on assigned portfolios, other asset positions that are monitored include (US treasury positions, equity positions and leverage positions).
• Provide guidance on strategies to exploit gains on the local and regional equities market through providing market information, outlook etc.
• Ensure that equity portfolios are rebalanced on a timely basis to ensure compliance with portfolio weights as per the Investment Policy Statement.
• Develop strategies around the retention and growth of existing portfolios through identifying investment opportunities and taking advantage of them.
• Manage the relationship between branches, PPM, Sales, CRM’s etc. and HO in growing securities trading to ensure the achievement of that target and other targets (ie. through providing the necessary information, eg. pricing information, market information/developments, market outlook etc.
• Oversees and guides the reporting on local, regional, and international markets thus identifying opportunities and/ threats for the existing and potential investment options.
• Proposes and documents new type of business activities and business opportunities for the growth of the company’s portfolios.
• Oversees and develops any strategy plans designed to expand JMMB’s client base
• Monitors and manages the funding costs for JMMB’s own portfolio for the Head Office division.
• Develop and manage training programs and strategies to enhance transactions through the frontline and all other revenue units on the various asset classes (ie. through Branches, PPM, Sales, CRM’s etc).
• Assist in the provision of pricing info for the valuation of JMMB’s portfolio and its related companies where necessary.
• Provides financial advice to Institutional Clients for the development of their investment portfolio’s to assist in meeting their financial goals.
• Prepares various tracking and performance reports for Board reports as well as for assistance in decision making.
• Assist in the planning and budgeting process of the department as required.
• Assists in the testing of systems and or other projects under development and makes recommendations accordingly.
• Cross sells related products to meet the respective agreed targets which include ( income, profit, volume etc)
• Is engaged in the transformation process for the continuous improvement of JMMB and its associated companies.

·         Manages the reporting around tracking performance and submits to the Trading Manager. Reports include but are not limited to (US Treasury Positions, Gains on securities traded, Leverage positions, Currency positions, etc).

·         Assists in the management/supervision of the Trading Department to facilitate efficiency in order to ensure profitability and growth.

·         Promotes the JMMB’s philosophy of the Vision of Love and its unique culture.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

• First Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business (with emphasis on Financial Management).
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or in pursuit of such a designation.
• Licensed by the Financial Services Commission, or a suitable candidate for licensing. Licensed by the requisite international securities regulatory body (e.g. NASD), would be a distinct asset.
• Working knowledge of financial sector laws, regulations, ethics and professional jargon.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Highly proficient in negotiating.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• High level of proficiency in the use of computers. Very good keyboard skills.
• Minimum of five years’ work experience, in trading financial instruments at the level of Trader. An excellent understanding of Fixed Income Securities, currencies, derivatives, Money Market Operations and a track record of successful trading is critical. One year’s experience in the supervision of others would be a distinct asset.
