The Project Officer (PO) works as an active member of a team with program managers, coordinators, program and administrative assistants and finance staff to plan and deliver the company's activities according to the program’s approved work plans and budgets. efficiency of program implementation.

Accountability:

The Project Officer (PO) works as an active member of a team with program managers, coordinators, program and administrative assistants and finance staff to plan and deliver the company's activities according to the program’s approved work plans and budgets. The PO is responsible to coordinate and implement specific program activities and tasks as assigned from time to time, currently the coordination of LED Demonstration Projects. S/he works closely with the relevant program managers and coordinators (team leaders) to plan and assess the outputs of the assigned activities and works independently when required. S/he participates actively in working groups, team meetings and staff events and contributes to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of program implementation.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to overall program management as a member of the program team

Support the implementation of the company's Local Economic Development Demonstration Projects (LDPs)

Coordinate the documentation of LDPS

Support the monitoring and evaluation of LDPs

Support the financial management of LDPs 

Provide efficient and effective organizational and logistics support for the implementation of other assigned activities and tasks that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements:

  • University degree in a relevant field
  • Five years of work experience
  • Knowledge of project management cycle and systems
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Office software
  • Good interpersonal and English oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to travel outside of Port of Spain, including to other countries, from time to time

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with the local, city or municipal government sector
  • Experience working with the micro or small enterprise sector
  • Experience as a project officer for an institutional strengthening, capacity building or community development project
  • Experience working in an international setting with persons or organizations from outside of Trinidad and Tobago, especially other countries in the Caribbean or the Commonwealth
  • Experience maintaining records, files or databases and preparing reports
  • Experience with procurement and basic financial and administrative processes
  • Experience working in teams and in a flexible, dynamic work environment
