Programme Manager

We are seeking to identify a Programme Manager to join our Group Project Management Office. This role will report to the Assistant Vice President – Group Project Management Office.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage a program of projects,  including:
    • Providing direct management of assigned program of projects ensuring that all projects assigned are operating to plan;
    • Assigning/requesting Project Managers and other supporting resources to facilitate the implementation of multiple and concurrent projects
    • Ensuring completion of high quality Project Management Plans in accordance with company standard;
    • Ensuring objectives and the purpose of the project are clear;
    • Reviewing project-related expenses for final Executive sign-off(s);
    • Recommending implementation strategies that ensure proper support and maintenance after implementation;
    • Maintaining and securing project documentation which comprehensively and accurately represents the project planning and implementation process, and is finalized at the close of each project;
    • Providing administrative and technical leadership on assigned projects to ensure prompt and successful project completion;
    • Displaying a high level of professionalism required for the development and maintenance of good working relationships with partners, clients and other team members;
    • Reviewing and managing the project management budget to ensure the most prudent use of the company’s funds.

 

  • Drive and deliversuccessful projects across multiple functional areas, including:
    • Managing the various components of assigned projects (i.e. communication, technology issues, people and change) on a day-to-day basis working closely with stakeholders;
    • Escalating risks, issues and key dependencies continuously;
    • Helping to promptly resolve problems that may arise within the project team or with partners;
    • Recommending and effecting prudent changes and improvements needed to meet desired
           results.

 

  • Actively participate in the building of new initiatives, including:
    • Continuously securing buy-in and cause team(s) to coalesce around new initiatives
    • Effectively communicating changes and benefits;
    • Motivating team around new initiatives;
    • Preparing budgets, cost benefit analyses and scope definition for new initiatives;
    • Coordinating business analyses with various stakeholders;
    • Identifying alternative systems approaches for workability and economic feasibility.

 

  • Work with PMOleadership and sponsors to realize desired benefits, including:
    • Providing ongoing support, communication and Project Management guidance to Project Sponsors;.
    • Continuously assessing and tracking projects to ensure desired outcomes and benefits are achieved, furthering the company’s strategic vision and objectives.

 

  • Participate in the maintenance and management of the Group Project Management methodology and
    ensuring adherence to Project Management best practices, including:
    • Ensuring adherence to the company PM methodologies;
    • Providing ongoing improvements to meet changing circumstances;
    • Promoting PM best practices through various awareness initiatives.

 

  • Develop assigned team, including;  
    • Providing managerial direction to assigned Project Managers;
    • Facilitating problem and conflict resolution within the project team;
    • Engaging and motivating the team;
    • Assigning specific roles and responsibilities to all project team members;
    • Supervising project-related team members to ensure that they are working efficiently to meet their deliverables;
    • Participating in planning team building and training activities for the project team.

 

 

The successfulcandidate will have the following academic qualifications, specialized skills and competencies:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Studies, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline, from a recognized tertiary institution
  • A minimum of five (5) years project management experience with at least two (2) years at a Senior Project Manager level; experience in the Financial Services sector would be an asset
  • A minimum of thirty-two (32) hours of formal training in the field of Project Management
  • Multi-disciplined with a high awareness of the use of Information Technology, process workflows and process re-engineering
  • Abreast of emerging market technologies
  • Experienced in the use of Project Management Tools
  • High competency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Very good documentation skills
  • Results-oriented and quality-focused
  • Sound time management and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Good presentation and communication skills
